The PS4

I already own a PS3. It is my second set. The first one gave way after using for about 4 years. I bought my first PS3 on the second year after it was originally released. Since then I had my fair share of games played on the console. Lately however, it has been a drought. There were several games that I intended to play on the PS3, mainly the exclusive titles, but I have been holding up on the purchase of new games. I am still keen in playing those games that have been put on hold like God of War Ascension and Devil May Cry, just to name a few. Recently, I bought Call of Duty Black Ops II and it was a great shooter game, as expected, coming from Activision and Treyarch.

Now that the PS4 is about to be released at the end of this year, I have been mulling over the fact on whether I should get it immediately, or wait it out for a little longer so that more games are released in the months after the initial launch. I have a number of friends who are planning  to get the PS4 on launch day itself. The exclusive games coming out on launch day are impressive and I am extremely looking forward to playing Infamous: Second Son. I have been a huge fan of the Infamous franchise. Sucker Punch, the developer of the game franchise released 2 titles for the PS3 and I enjoyed them immensely. They are great PS3 exclusive titles that I ever got the privilege to play. Other than the famous Uncharted series, Infamous at the top of my list of greatest games ever played.

Now with the impending release of PS4 and the release of Infamous: Second Son, I might just consider getting it near launch day itself. No word have been released regarding the local pricing of the console here and the launch date and launch countries have yet to be announced. It is expected that it should be announced shortly next week. I just hope that Singapore is one of the countries listed to get the console during the holiday season.

Just today, I followed a good friend of mine to look at 32inch TVs. He is already investing on a good TV to be used in his room in preparation for PS4. Tempting as it is, he is definitely getting the console when it is immediately available. Damn him heh…. the power of peer pressure. He bought a Samsung, Series 5, Full HD LED backlit LCD TV for a great price. He plans on mounting it on the wall, and when the PS4 is available at the end of the year, it will be the perfect setup to play all the games in full HD glory.

He is lacking something though. A good pair of speakers. Just to add a a little oomph to the entire gameplay experience. It might be one of the most overlooked feature when prepping your room for the ultimate PS4 gaming experience. Sound is as important as the visuals. A good investment in a good sound system for the gaming system is crucial to immerse oneself in the world you are in. Imagine cranking up the volume and hear bullets whizzing past you, sonic booms from explosions as you make your way through a ruined battlefield, enemies on all sides, orders shouted front right and centre, the sound of war all around you. That is if you are playing a shooter game. Sound makes all the difference in your entire gameplay experience.
