Corsair Xeneon Edge quick likes and dislikes

I just gotten my Xeneon Edge and I am loving it so far. Although there are some drawbacks that I noticed after using it for a couple of days. Here is a quick list of likes and dislikes based on my experience so far with the device.

Likes

1. It’s a solid piece of device. The whole things screams quality. The build is sturdy and the weight is heft.
2. It has strong magnets at the back, which is good for those who wants to stick it against their gaming rig.
3. Lots of screen space to put your widgets.
4. Some widgets are very customisable and you can have multiple pages of widgets to suit your changing needs depending on how you use the Xeneon Edge in relation to your gaming computer.
5. Easy plug-and-play via USB-C (with power and DP output). After that, just start your Corsair iCue software and it immediately detects the device.
6. It functions as a secondary display, so you don’t have to add widgets using the iCue and instead use it as an extension to your current display.

Dislikes

1. LCD IPS panel display not the best display in terms of color accuracy and inky blacks. This is especially jarring if you place the Xeneon Edge against an OLED panel, which I currently have as my main screen. But then again, most of time people will be using the Xeneon Edge as a widget display with lots of static images, so OLED will not be the best way forward due to OLED burn-in risk. IPS panel performs far superior when it comes to causing burn-in.
2. Not as sharp as I would have expected. The pixel density could be improved. But if using as a widget display to display static information, this is fine.
3. Widget support is fun, but some are behind a paywall, having to pay to use the widget from the Elgato marketplace. And I can’t buy any of them, because I am currently region-locked and it is not for sale in Singapore. So I have to stick to using the free ones.
4. Widget support is a welcoming edition to expand what the Xeneon Edge can potentially do, but the marketplace is pretty nascent and still in its infancy stage. There aren’t that many out there right now. Time will tell if more people start making widgets to share with the wider community.

Right now I am just waiting for my L-mount to arrive. This will enable me to mount the Xeneon Edge at the top of my main monitor, screwed using the camera screw mount that is available at the back of the device as well as the back of the monitor. I am looking forward to installing it and to see if it improves the aesthetics of my gaming set-up.
