Desktop PC refresh update

RAM prices are at an all time high, so it doesn’t make sense to do a mid-cycle refresh on my PC. I already have 48GB RAM in my system. Do I want more? Yes, please it doesn’t make financial sense to do an upgrade when I will gain so little out of it. As far as gaming is concerned, 48GB RAM is plenty.

I am very happy with my ASUS TUF 5080 GPU. GPU prices are also astronomically high. It just doesn’t make sense to fork out thousands of dollars, to get a marginal improvement in gaming performance.

However, I still want to do a mid-cycle refresh update to my desktop PC set up. Recently, during COMEX held at Suntec City, I bought a new monitor from Asus, the ROG Strix OLED XG32UQWMS. It is a new generation OLED, using Tandem OLED technology, 32 inch 4K monitor.

Priced at SGD 1311, I think it is a pretty good deal. OLED monitors prices have been falling steadily over the years, while at the same time, OLED technology has been improving by leaps and bounds.

Previously, back in January 2025, I bought another OLED monitor from Asus, the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG for just under SGD 1000. It was a 27 inch 1440p monitor. Now, for just SGD300 more, you can get a much bigger, and better OLED panel with higher resolution. That is just insane.

When I bought the new 32 inch monitor, my initial plan was to sell off the older monitor online. But as I was unpacking the new monitor, I thought to myself; what if I adopt a multi monitor PC desktop setup? And that was what I did. I placed the 27inch monitor vertically and on the right of the main monitor. After tinkering with the position on my desk, it looked glorious. In fact, it look even better than I initially imagined.

Now, I am hugely inspired to play some of the latest games out there. I have been playing too much gacha games of late and the experience has been getting stale. I recently bought a slew of games to enjoy on my new 4K monitor, like 007 First Light, Dispatch, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resync, Expedition 33 just to name a few.

I am loving my new set up. I never imagined that I would be one of those multi-monitor user for my PC desktop set up.
