ASUS TUF OC RTX 3080 one month review

It’s been a month since I got my hands on an RTX 3080, and I have had the opportunity to test it out on a slew of games, from AC Valhalla, to Control, Cyberpunk 2077 and even Death Stranding. In the past month, I put the GPU through its paces and I must say, that the ASUS TUF OC RTX 3080 is built like a champ. It runs almost silently, at respectable temperatures and churns out frames without breaking a sweat (except when playing Cyberpunk 2077, that game is the new Crysis when it comes to pushing your latest hardware to its knees).

Overall, I am pleased with the choice of graphics card in my system. Not that I had much of a choice to begin with, as stocks of RTX 3080 were severely limited, even to this day, months after its official release. So beggars can’t be choosers and I had to resort to getting the GPU from ASUS. Not that I had anything to complain about. The GPU runs spectacularly. The overall build is rock solid, almost minimalist, all sharp angles and made of premium materials like aluminum for the shroud, instead of plastic. It’s a chonky card, but I don’t mind, so long as it makes up for the length, which is shorter than most GPU of the same caliber out there in the market. At 300mm in length, the ASUS TUF OC RTX 3080 fits perfectly in my Meshify C case, without me having to remove the front fans to accommodate the sheer length.

The RTX options are amazing, especially on Cyberpunk 2077. I believe it is by far the only game that pushes RTX effects to overdrive and that makes the game of the most beautiful looking games (graphically) of this generation. Cyberpunk 2077 and RTX effects were made for each other, and what better way to pair the game with an RTX 3080.

Right now, I am currently playing Death Stranding, a Hideo Kojima game. This game has gorgeous graphics and my RTX 3080 is able to spew out at least 100fps at ultra, 1440p without breaking a sweat. The end product: A gorgeous looking game as the developers intended it to be for gamers to appreciate.

Overall, the ASUS TUF OC RTX 3080 simply hums and purrs in my build, never giving me any problems so far and I am enjoying it tremendously. It is a worthy addition to my ever evolving build.
