A game that is seven years in the making, plagued with multiple delays throughout 2020, and now with just 4 more days before the official launch of the most hyped game ever to be released in the history of gaming, its none other than Cyberpunk 2077.
In a weird way, the delay have been fortuitous for me. It gave me time to source for my RTX 3080, so that I can play this game in all its graphics glory, the way the developers intended to. It took me two months just to finally get my hands on a ASUS TUF RTX 3080 after its initial launch. So it was a good thing (at least for me) to know that the game was delayed further so that I can have more time to prepare my PC.
The delay also allowed me to spend considerable time with Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, one of my favourite gaming franchise. AC:Valhalla was slated to release at about the same time as Cyberpunk 2077, pitting one AAA gaming title with another AAA gaming title against each other. The competition would have been extremely stiff, with Cyberpunk most likely gaining an edge in terms of capturing players’ attention and priority when it comes to choosing which game to play first. Having two, AAA titles launching so close to each other is just agonizing for gamers who especially looked forward to enjoying both AC:Valhalla and Cyberpunk 2077.
So far I have probably reached the midpoint in the game in terms of the AC:Valhalla’s storyline. I will definitely not be able to complete the entire story before Cyberpunk 2077 comes out, but at least I am already deep in the game, and I will now have a greater choice in choosing which games to play depending on my mood. No doubt, when Cyberpunk 2077 launches in a few days time, I will definitely be spending a lot of time in that game. But I will at one point get tired of it and switching to Valhalla will be a nice change of pace from time to time. I am not rushing to complete either game. In fact, I am going to remind myself repeatedly that I will savor every moment in Cyberpunk 2077. If it will take me 200 hours to complete the game and to fully immerse myself in the world, then so be it. I am going to take my time to enjoy the beautiful, maxed-out visuals made possible by my newly acquired RTX 3080.
But now, the time has come. With just days away from the official launch, gamers from around the world are sure to be excited to sink their teeth into the reach world of Nightcity in Cyberpunk 2077. The hype is real, the anticipation at a fever pitch. There are concerns that the game will not be able to meet the sky-high expectations from the gaming community who have been patiently waiting for years for this game to launch. However, personally, I don’t care much about what the gaming community’s expectations are or if the game falls short of meeting those expectations. I know that CDProjekt Red has poured their considerable resources to ensure that they made the best game possible. So I will do them the honor of enjoying the game as it is that they have sacrificed so much for. I think that is the most important thing. Just go with the flow and enjoy the art that they have created, the world that they have breathed life into, with all its flaws and shortcomings. Imagine; they invest seven years and vast amounts of resources to make this single game. They are passionate about what they do. So I am fully confident that this game is going to be a resounding success. Not only that, I believe this game will be remembered as one of the greatest games ever to have been produced in the history of gaming.
