Asus Flow Z13 2025, 5 months in.

I have been using the Asus Flow Z13 hybrid notebook for 5 months as my primary work device, and it doesn’t disappoint. It is powerful, snappy and is able to perform optimally no matter work kind of workload it is currently in. The display is sharp and plenty bright for my needs. The size is perfect and it is not too heavy to carry around. It’s versatility as a notebook and a tablet means that I can use it however I want no matter where I am, whether I am on my desk, or on the couch.

But after using daily for 5 months I am facing minor issues from time to time.

Keyboard feels great while typing, but faces typing issues from time to time.

The keyboard feels great while typing, but because it is removable, sometimes the keyboard doesn’t register the right keys or respond at all when disconnecting and reconnecting to the device. It seems that there are quite a bit of bugs whenever the keyboard is reattached to the main device. Sometimes certain keys don’t respond, or refuse to communicate with the main device at all. In extreme cases, I had to restart my computer to get it to function properly again.

Sleep mode doesn’t wake up.

Whenever I am away from my desk, the notebook goes into sleep mode. Sometimes, however, I cannot wake up the computer. I had minor panic attacks thinking that the computer was 100% dead and unresponsive. I had to press the power button for an extended period of time to force a cold start from sleep mode.

On rare occasions, the notebook goes into hyperdrive when in sleep mode.

I had encountered two rare occasions where, during sleep, the computer became extremely hot, and the fan ramped up to its maximum speed, even though I was not running any CPU- or GPU-intensive programs. The screen is off, indicating that the notebook is in sleep mode, but the computer was running at full load, quickly draining the battery. On one of those occasion, I tucked the notebook into my bag, on my way home. When I took it out of the bag, the notebook was hot and the battery nearly drained.

These are some of the issues I have faced so far. While these are minor annoyances, I just hope that I will not encounter further problems down the line. I really like this notebook hybrid and despite the problems, this is by far the best Windows notebook I have ever owned. The super-fast CPU means that this notebook can be used for a very long time, and I do not foresee any slowdown in performance for at least the next 5 years. During that period, the battery will definitely be the first to fail. I will be visiting the service center to replace the battery. In other words, I really do want this device to last as long as possible.
