One year in my newly renovated home

A couple of months ago in September marks one year since I started living independently in my newly renovated flat. I invest quite a lot of time and money in renovating my apartment to make my new home feel like a little piece of heaven that I look forward at the end of a hard day’s work.

Looking back at the past year, I am really grateful that I finally have a home that is comfortable and inviting. I am also grateful that the renovation process was smooth with no major hiccups. I guess I am lucky that I was able to select the right interior design company with an interior designer that really speak my language in terms of how I want my apartment to look like.

The whole renovation process took 8 weeks with another week or two for moving my things in. The schedule was really tight, considering that I was doing a major overhaul of the 3-room HDB apartment, from the toilet to the kitchen, bathroom, living room, and even electrical and lighting. There was a lot of carpentry in the kitchen and bedroom. But once that renovation started, it never stopped for any reason whatsoever and it completed on schedule as dictated by the interior designer. They were very ambitious with the timeline and they delivered.  I am very satisfied with their overall workmanship and selection of materials for the house.

Now, one year in, and I must say, that my home still looks like the original state when I first started moving in. Nothing major has changed, which is a good thing, and something that I want to maintain for many more years to come. I like a somewhat minimalistic look to my decor in my apartment. I never liked clutter and keeping it the way as it was when I first started moving in is my goal moving forward. Personally, I find this a good thing, as I get to live a somewhat minimalistic lifestyle. I constrain myself in not adding clutter to my house by buying unnecessary stuff, furnishings or decorative items.

I think, it will help to improve the overall decor if only I had the time to maintain live plants, but alas, I do not have a green thumb and the patience to maintain plants. I might just resort to fake plants.
