Reading challenge 2022

At the start of the year, I will log in to my Goodreads account and set a reading challenge for the year.

Last year in 2021, I set a goal of reading 20 books. However, I blazed through my goals and achieved reading 29 before the year ended.

Initially I set my goal to read 20 books for 2022, the same as 2021. But considering that I was able to handily beat my reading goals by a whopping 9 books, I am ready to set myself a fairly ambitious target of reading 30 books.

Already I am off to a good start, having read six for the month of January already. At this pace, I am four books ahead of schedule. I am currently ripping through Stephen Blackmoore’s Eric Carter series. In a month’s time I will have read every single book written by Blackmore on Eric Carter. I believe there is a total of six books written with the seventh releasing sometime this year.

So far, I am enjoying reading all about Eric Carter the Necromancer. The first couple of books were a little shaky in my opinion. It wasn’t that exciting for me. Some of the characters are pretty flat and uninspiring, but nonetheless, the writing is tight and witty and that overall gives flavour to the written story. I am optimistic that as the series progresses, it will get appreciably better.

I am planning to planning to complete reading the entire Expanse novels. I just finished reading book 7. I have book 8 in my Kindle, just waiting to be read. That should be my next ‘to-read’ list.

I also just finished reading Big Little Lies written by Liane Moriarty. It was an enjoyable read. Gripping story about a small wealthy town in Sydney and a murder investigation involving parents who take their children to this particular school by the beach. In it, you will get to know the inner lives of these people living in that town and the secrets they hold.

The book has been adapted to an HBO limited series. I am going to watch the series now that I have finished reading the book.

Other than that, my reading list is pretty much open. I haven’t done any research on what books to read for 2022. Although I have a wish list of books to read in my Amazon account, I haven’t decide on the order in which to read them. Maybe I will decide once I finished the Expanse and Eric Carter series.

  1. My goal for last year, was the same as the year before. 85 books! This year I’m already so behind, but it’s fine, because I know I’ll catch up at some point throughout the year 🙂 I hope you reach your goals this year xx
