Last week I took a leap of faith and bought the Oppo Find N5 foldable phone. It is the flagship foldable from Oppo that was released in early 2025.

For a couple months prior to that I have been contemplating switching over to Android after many years with Apple, back during the 3GS era.

It was not easy finding the ideal Android phone for me to easily switch over. I initially thought that getting the Google Pixel phones with it’s stock Android operating system would ease me in the world of Android. Coupled with deep integration with Gemini AI, it would be an ideal device to take advantage of what the Android ecosystem has to offer.

But then I started reading up on the current state of foldables in 2025. Eventually I learnt about the Oppo’s foldable phone and started to understand why this phone received such good reviews.

I decided to give it a shot, took a leap of faith and bought the device through a reseller selling pristine and opened phone device from a previous owner. I bought a second hand device because firstly, foldables are expensive. Second, I have the option to try out the device for 7 days guilt free before choosing to return it if the device wasn’t for me.

Two weeks in, and I have zero regrets.

Though my foldable is a second hand device, it is absolutely pristine. The battery, screen and just about everything else is working perfectly fine with virtually zero flaws. And it was close to 500 bucks cheaper.

I no longer feel like I’m lugging around a brick. In fact, comparing side by side with the iPhone 16 Pro max, the thickness and screen wideness is similar when folded, making it the most comfortable foldable to use. It really does not feel like you are using a bulky foldable when using it in a folded state.

Oppo has implemented a lot of under-the-hood software technology baked into their ColorOS to ensure that day-to-day use of this phone is seamless, smooth and responsive, no matter the workload or the type of apps that are running at the same time. I dare say that the ColorOS is optimised and responsive comparable to that if iOS.
