Spiderman 3 has broken the box-office record by netting US$59 million on its opening day, after beating the previous record holder, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, which opened last summer with US$55.8 million. The movie franchise bagged an additional US$45 million worth of tickets overseas, totalling US$104 million, a record earning sum ever.
There will be no doubt that the movie would also break the 3 day record. All we have to do is wait for the official reports which would be coming later today. Although it is the most expensive movie ever made, the franchise would fine little trouble to recoup its cost and bag tons of profit long the way.
Looks like the latest Pirates installment would have a very difficult time breaking that record, if we ever see a record breaking movie anytime soon.
