My workplace laptop is shitty. It’s so old and tech refreshes don’t come often enough. Right now I am using a 13 inch laptop from Dell, with a measly 8GB of ram, 128GB of SSD storage space powered by an Intel CPU from eons ago. Even the battery can barely hold a charge past the 1 hour mark when unplugged.

The past week, I decided to migrate all my files and data from my work laptop to my Z13, to set it up as my work/play device hybrid of sorts. Bring the Z13 for work related stuff during the day, tinker with AI LLM at night and maybe even gaming.
So far, it’s been working really great. I already have a 27 inch monitor on my office desk that I use as a secondary monitor, so hooking the Z13 to that monitor is not a problem with its full-sized HDMI cable. All I needed to do was to migrate some of my browser and web apps that I use daily for work and I am all good. The rest of the data is offloaded to the server or OneDrive for easy access between devices.
With the Z13 as my work laptop, I am so much more productive, able to handle multiple browsers and open multiple programs simultaneously without slowing down. This thing can handle it all without breaking a sweat. So far, I am quickly getting used to using the Z13 as my office laptop, it felt like the transition didn’t happen at all.
Now, I can fully maximise the use of the Z13 and justify buying such an expensive laptop-tablet hybrid. At least I am getting my money’s worth.
