Smallville…

Yesterday, i watched Smallville. I never miss an episode of it, because i love that series so much. However, that particular episode left me pondering that night. It left me reflecting on my past of the deeds that i have done to my friends, analysing whether they are appreciative or not. That particular chapter was somehow related to my real life event. Though the story of the show is not exactly similar to what i have experienced, it does have a message.

The story goes like this:
Cloe and Pete went to a cave rave party. That cave was actually closed off because it was an archeological site and must be preserved. However the cave was open and a party was being held there. It was more like a disco. So off they went trying to shoo the people away from the party but it was difficult. There were too many of them attending. Pete was just hanging by one of the cave walls when suddenly a parasite bit him. This parasite actually pumps up the person’s adrenaline and makes the person do risky and adventurous stuff that would in the end, lead to death. Clark noticed the change in Pete’s behaviour, but couldnt make up a reason to it. Meanwhile, while Pete was having high adrenaline, he suggested to Clark to have a date with Lana, and so he did. It was shaky at first when Clark asked her for a date, but both agreed to it and Lana was feeling excited.
At that same moment, an archeological investigation was in progress and funded by none other than Lex Luther. He was curious about the paintings found on the cave walls and hired the best in the field of archeology to do the research. Cloe went for a second look to find the cause of a few deaths that points to the party. She was there, but unfortunately was bitten by this unknown parasite. Before that, Cloe felt jealous when Lana told her that she had a date with Clark, but she didnt show it.
So Cloe and Pete tried to lure Clark in becoming bad. Clark was concerned about Pete’s behaviour and told Lana that the date was off. She was furious but she understand the dire consequences if he did not try to find a way to save his friend. So the date was off, but shortly after that, Pete and Cloe bump onto Clark and Lana, Pete behave entirely normal during the conversation and told Lana that it was just a joke and that he is ditching her, something like that im not too sure. The point is, that Lana and Pete teamed up to sabotage Lana’s relationship with Clark. She was even furious at Clark when she discovers it. After she left, Pete and Cloe cunningly dropped a red Kryptonite stone into Clark’s pocket, making him bad. ( Red Kryptonites changes Clark’s attitude and behaviour to the polar opposite ) He was oblivious to it and immediately turned bad and joined them in their quest to do risky stunts. But something happened then, Cloe purposely stopped by the Talon ( Lana’s Shop ) the next day and went intimite with Clark. Fortunately, the stone dropped onto the floor, changing back into his former self. But it was too late, as he tried to get away from the intimacy, he was caught red handed, Lana witnessed everything, and made her even livid with anger. He tried to explain the truth of it all, that it was not him that did it and also that Cloe was not herself, but to no avail. He had no choice but to put this broken relationship aside and save his 2 best friends from doing stupid things that would eventually lead to thier deaths. And so he tried and was succesful of saving them. They were back to their normal self, when they were admitted to the hospital. Fortunately, they cant rememeber a single thing when they were not their self.
When everything was over, Clark tried to make up for the cancelled date, but he failed. The wound of the relationship was so bad that Lana refused to talk to him or forgive him for what he has done. She did not understand the whole picture of it and leave to think that Clark does not love her but Cloe. The rose that was given by Clark to Lana to repair that wound did little to sway her decision and she just threw away the rose after she smelled it.
THE END

So as i was saying, it comes to the bottom that whatever he does is always at a sacrifice of others. Whatever he did, he will surely do something wrong for the other person, although it was not his fault. The things that he does for his friends were never taken into account and forgotten like that. They never come to appreciate the things that he does for them, and thought that he is being selfish or biased towards a particular person. When i thought of that, it struck me because there are so many things that i have done to my friends but sometimes they are neither appreciated nor taken into account. I dont expect to be rewarded or paid for everything that i have done for them. I just want to make sure that whatever do for them, jst dont blame me when something goes wrong. Dont take me as someone who can pour all thier ranting and blames when im not helping them or not up to thier standard. To err is human. There are many instances when i helped my friends to a great extent, only to be forgotten or unheard off, to break the friendship with someone whom you knew for a long time. This kind of actions really traumatise me.
